Ellen Spinner, MS, CNP
Ellen Spinner is a
certified nurse practitioner specializing in Women’s Health.
She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Ohio
State University college of Nursing,
which she attended from 1990 – 1994 and 1996 – 1998.
Ellen is a nationally certified nurse practitioner and,
additionally, she is licensed by the Ohio state Medical Board as a Massage
Therapist. Prior to
specialization, Ellen was a Registered Nurse in Emergency, Orthopedic,
and Medical / Surgical units. Ellen
enjoys empowering patients with the knowledge and confidence to
proactively take charge of their own health, and to view their lives
from a “wellness perspective” which honors the physical, social,
emotional, and spiritual elements of life.
Ellen grew up in
beautiful Appalachian countryside, in Scioto County
near Portsmouth.
Ellen is one of five daughters of Frank and Claudia Pasturzak –
hard-working and loving parents who taught strong work ethics and
sound moral principles.
Ellen is a life-long Roman Catholic and was honored in 2002 with her
parish’s nomination as “Catholic Woman of the Year”.
Ellen has also held
another distinguished title in her past:
“Miss Ohio 1995”.
After competing in Atlantic City
in the Miss America pageant, Ellen returned to
Ohio
to serve the state via public speaking and entertaining, promoting the
Buckeye state as well as her own platform of “Community Centered Health
Care”. Her travels as Miss Ohio presented countless opportunities, from
carrying the Olympic Torch, to singing the national anthem at a sold out
Cleveland Indians game, to visiting nursing homes and speaking during
session in the Ohio House of Representatives.
Ellen’s “job” as Miss Ohio paid
richly in experiences and scholarships, but perhaps the greatest reward
was meeting her (future) husband during a speaking engagement at a
church in Cleveland.
Ellen Pasturzak and Scott
Spinner were married in 1997 and now live in
Mechanicsburg, OH.
Together with their sons Caleb and Joshua, they enjoy quiet
country living on a beautiful 72 acre homestead.
In January 2008 Ellen opened the Gentle Care
Health Center
at 15 North Main St.,
Mechanicsburg; Ellen
provides gynecology and women’s health services.
Ellen’s dream is to serve
women of all shapes, ages, and sizes, regardless of income, reputation,
or lifestyle. In the words
of one of her patients: “She brings quality and professionalism and
compassion to an exam and experience often scary and uncomfortable;
Ellen really listens and genuinely cares.”
